One to Watch, Ali Majed

From Dev Squad Sessions to Inter Toronto FC U21

At CC Football Dev Squad, the goal is simple, create an environment where young players can challenge themselves, sharpen their game, and prepare for the next level of football.

One of the players who recently passed through that environment is Ali Majed, a technically refined and tactically intelligent central midfielder who is now continuing his development with Inter Toronto FC U21.

Ali represents exactly the type of player Dev Squad aims to support, ambitious, committed to improvement, and determined to push his career forward.

Ali’s Football Journey

Born in 2007 and holding Lebanese and Canadian nationality, Ali has already experienced several strong football environments that have helped shape his game.

His development includes time within Spanish academy football, where he trained and competed in programs connected to Rayo Vallecano’s La Liga academy system. Playing in Spain exposed him to the tactical discipline and technical demands of European football, helping him develop a strong understanding of the game and confidence in possession.

During his time abroad, Ali recorded 11 goals and 8 assists in 17 matches, showing his ability to impact the game offensively while controlling play from midfield.

Back in Canada, Ali also spent time developing within the Edmonton Whitecaps program, continuing to refine his technical level, tactical awareness, and overall consistency in his performances.

His progression has now led him to Inter Toronto FC U21, where he has already begun to make a strong impression, drawing attention from the first team through his performances, professionalism, and consistency.

Development with CC Football Dev Squad

Throughout his time training with CC Football Dev Squad, Ali showed the qualities that stand out in young midfielders with real long-term potential.

Dev Squad sessions focus on high-tempo training, tactical awareness, and competitive intensity, creating an environment where players must think quickly and execute under pressure.

Ali thrived in that setting.

His composure in possession, strong positional awareness, and ability to read the rhythm of the game made him a natural presence in midfield. Just as importantly, his work ethic and professionalism consistently stood out, setting the standard within sessions.

That mentality has translated directly into his next environment. Upon arriving at Inter Toronto, Ali stood out immediately in fitness testing, posting top results and demonstrating the physical level required to compete at an academy standard.

Seeing players like Ali take the next steps in their careers is exactly what Dev Squad is built for.

Player Profile

Ali Majed is a technically refined and tactically intelligent central midfielder who is comfortable operating in multiple midfield roles.

Primarily a central midfielder, he can also play as an attacking midfielder or defensive midfielder, giving coaches flexibility in how he can influence the game.

• Strong positional awareness and game understanding
• Line-breaking passing that progresses attacks
• Ability to retain the ball under pressure
• Leadership qualities and communication in midfield

Standing at 6’1 (185 cm), Ali combines physical presence with technical quality, allowing him to dictate tempo while contributing both defensively and offensively.

Combined with his exceptional fitness levels, professionalism, and attention to detail, Ali is a player with significant long-term potential.

Quick Questions with Ali Majed

What was your experience like playing in Spain, and what did it teach you about the game?

It taught me that football is a game of patience and small moments. When you have the ball, you need to take care of it while still playing at a high tempo. In Spain, quality and technique are non-negotiable, if you’re not at the required standard, it becomes very clear very quickly.

Before joining Inter Toronto FC U21, you spent time training with CC Football Dev Squad. What were your first impressions of the environment and the level of the sessions?

My first experience was in the summer of 2024, and I really enjoyed it. I was training with a lot of current professionals and university players, which pushed me and made the sessions very challenging, in a good way. The environment is run professionally from start to finish, from the warm-up to the end of the session, and it really replicates what training in a professional academy or first-team environment feels like.

Which players do you look up to or try to model your game after?

I really enjoy watching Sergio Busquets. The way he plays makes the game look simple, but he’s always capable of changing the game with one final pass. I try to model my game around being efficient, keeping possession, and not losing the ball, especially in high-level environments where you don’t have much time to think.

For younger players looking for opportunities like the one you’ve earned, what would you say about the importance of training in environments like Dev Squad?

I’d say it’s very important, especially because of the level of feedback you receive from coaches like Chance and Marcus. They’ve both played at a professional level, so they understand what it takes to succeed. Their sessions are structured to reflect that, and for players who are serious about improving, that kind of environment is extremely valuable.

What are your goals for the next few years in football?

My long-term goal is to sign my first professional contract within the next few years. In the short term, I want to make my debut with the first team as soon as possible. I know that will come from putting in consistent work every day and trusting the process.

Do you think the Dev Squad environment benefits players in Edmonton, both young players trying to earn opportunities and professionals who come back home during the offseason? What makes that environment valuable?

I think it’s very valuable. For players who compete outside of Edmonton and come back home in the offseason, it provides a high-level environment to stay sharp, especially if they don’t have a club to train with locally. At the same time, it gives younger players exposure to the intensity and standards of training alongside professionals and university-level players, which is a great learning experience.

Looking Ahead

Ali Majed’s journey is still just beginning.

With experience in European academy football, strong Canadian development environments, and now a high-level academy setting in Canada, he continues to build the tools needed to compete at the next level.

At CC Football, we’re proud to have had him train within the Dev Squad environment and look forward to following his progress closely.

Ali Majed is definitely one to watch.
